This guy, Proguru on the "other" forum, did a 327 years ago.

I think he's converting to an LS motor now. There have been a few others, but he has some good documentation.

In a nutshell it is a huge engine in a small hole and very few have been done so you are pretty much on your own. But it's really the same process as any none kit installation. You have to fab a subframe, a trans mount and diff mount and the latter two are easy. You have to figure out what will work for headers or have custom ones made. And the cooling system needs to be as big as possible. So it's no different than putting in a Lexus engine or whatever. Except you get the special treat of dealing with the distributor in the worst possible place anyone could put it.

There is a pretty good thread on a SBC going in an NA now here. 351w functional drift build - Page 2 - MX-5 Miata Forum Don't let the name of the thread fool he changed from a Ford to a SBC on page 2.

IMO if you really want a SBC given the price of LT1s these days it might be worth a look. The EFI, the 6 speed and aluminum heads alone are worth the ticket price plus with optispark the distributor issue goes away

Good luck!!
