Great build! Love the color and the sound and you are one fine craftsman. Well done!

Thanks guys. Im trying to push my skills and build quality. Like zen and the art of motorcycle maintenance, im really just working on myself. I love the way it pops on deceleration, thats my favorite part.

Bought another complete 5.0 and a yyy bare block. Im going to build the yyy block for the miata, I guess we can call this the begining of phase 2 so I'll probably be spending more on the motor than the whole swap cost

I still have to prep and blueprint the block to see what machine work needs to be done. Until the checkbook comes out I have a few things to do, since the miata motor is coming out and going in my other project Im going to port and polish the E7 heads, lower and upper intake, make another egr spacer.

My other project is just going to be a work truck, to pick up stuff from home depot and parts I find on craigslist

Milled .250 off of the top for more hood clearance. Port and polished. I dropped it off at the machine shop for a hot tanking

The yyy block, said to be much stronger than standard "porno blocks" xxx castings. Higher magnesium content. Bottom end will remain stock, arp main and rod studs, clevite race main and cam bearings, crank scraper

Block is almost done before it goes to the machine shop for a line and cylinder hone. Yes 64 different meassurements for lifter bores, they may get a hone to .876" but I havent meassured the stock roller lifters. Thats another 64 meassurements but at least its straight micrometer use and no dial bore transfering. Its fully deburred, every external casting mark is gone, as for the inside it will get a glyptal coating for oil scavenging. The bores are all good, less than .0005" taper or egging that will be taken care of with the hone.

I really wish you were my neighbor so I could look over your shoulder and get an education on engine building/ perfection. I'd probably ask too many questions and slow you down... For your sake - it's probably a good thing I'm not there!

Cool update in my opinion... Carry on.

Knocked a few things off of my list. Went to a 195 degree thermostat because I was running around 180. Made the radiator top bracket removable so I can easily slide it out without removing the fan, the lower mount is bolted to the frame. I just used to rivnuts near the lights

Started on the mega squirt but I had to go to work so I didn't finish.

To do list
Hard top plates for the b pillar since I'm getting a little rattle
Wire up the defroster
Reverse lights
Put in my new red speedo gear
Take care the d side exhaust flange, it keeps getting loose
Make a tablet radio/head unit so I can tune the mega squirt anywhere. Good for when I'm waiting in the car

Sorry for such a long hiatus. So here is what Im currently up to. Just rewired the car with a megasquirt harness and deleted every wire that I didnt need, the harness comes wired for everything even if you dont have it. (abs, daytime running lights, obd2, power windows etc). I put all of the fuse boxes in the passenger footwell (cabin, engine bay, megasquirt). Ordered a jegs heater to get rid of some weight and make behind the dash as clean as possible. Stripped out all of the carpet and sound deadening, in the trunk too. I'm saving everything and not doing anything I cant undo, just in case I need to daily drive it, my daily driver is an audi with 250k so it can give up the ghost at any moment, most likely the worst moment. Installed the spartan wideband controller and I'm currently reworking the exhaust a little. Unfortunately photobucket isnt working for me right now so I cant post pics
