Mazdaspeed 302 Build
5 Attachment(s)
Welp, After about a year in the thinking and deciding process, I decided to tear down my beloved 2005 Mazdaspeed Miata for a heart transplant. I have had some flack from the locals and purist on tearing apart a perfectly good "special edition" miata, but I want more POWAAAAAA!! Some of you may know that the Mazdaspeed's electronics hinder it pretty bad.
The decision came one Sunday night and I just started to tear into it. Rip the band-aid off if you will. Here is the car before the teardown... Attachment 8825 Just another fun shot of my buddies Turbo 1.6 NA and mine... Attachment 8826 Another issue I had to work out was what motor do I put in this thing. I decided on the Ford 302 for a few reasons: Price - I am awaiting pickup on a complete swap from a 93 Fox for $600 cash Parts - aftermarket parts a reletively cheap for the 302 compared to a LS motor Simplicity - the electronics on the older 302 is much simpler and is easier to work around. I.E. no passlock system and what not. Different - To my knowledge, a 302 swap hasnt been done to a Mazdaspeed. Yeah I know its not a big deal, but for me its a personal plus. Here is a shot of my garage... dont mind the mess, its much cleaner now... Attachment 8827 The 240 is a buddy of mines drift car build... its getting a SBC. I got the engine out in a matter of a couple hours (working solely on my own) :yippee: Attachment 8828 All out and ready to part with and ship across the world! This is a big chunk of my funding for this build. Attachment 8829 |
You will have a good looking and fast car... :)
