Stainless fuel line & AN fittings to Fuel injector tubes
I noticed that Jason used Stainless fuel lines and AN fittings to go from the stock hard fuel lines(grey) to the chrome stock hard line(going to the fuel injectors) on his "Bluey" build. Would like to know the size of the lines (diameter & length) and the correct AN fittings to hook up the grey hard lines to the chrome distribution tubes that go to the fuel injectors. Very cool install. Thanx in advance.....

The stock lines are 5/16". You will need some 5/16 hard line to 6AN adapters such as these Earl's 165156 Earl's Hard-Line AN Tube Fittings - Free Shipping on All Orders @ JEGS. Then you will need some 6AN hose, 2 male unions http://www.jegs.com/i/JEGS-Performan...rentProductId= & 4 female ends. Firstly thanx for the info T Bone, However I am puzzled by the part where you say not to buy any of these type of hard line fittings. The alternative i guess is to go wit h specific fuel injection hose and double clamps. I need some direction here.......

I linked 2 types of hard line fittings. The second type uses a rubber sleeve in it to seal on the line.That is the fitting that I was saying to avoid. I tried to use some without any good results. Another option would be to flare the hard line & use a tube nut & sleeve, which would probably be less expensive & make a more secure attachment.

I like the idea of flaring the lines(seems like I read something like that in Martins manual). Would appreciate a pix of that setup. Thanx for the response. We're starting to get short on the build, starting to look like a driver.....

On all but my first build I actually eliminated the stock mustang chrome rail entirely by replacing it with a set of bbk rails. The rails came as a kit with rubber hose which I scrapped for ptfe lined stainless lines. The whole intention of this was to avoid the push to connect ford fuel connectors mentioned above. I can write more and throw up a few pictures later.

I used the Mallory fuel rails with a remote regulator, & ran 6AN hose back to the filter. I did not like how close the Miata factory lines were to the headers.

I would appreciate whatever pix/info you guys can post. However at this point the CFO won't allow me to go with an after market setup. Besides there is an aluminum driveshaft I have to purchase, the pix/info would be for later reference. A safe barebones fuel line setup(using the Ford rails is what's needed now.... Thanx

Tbone- I noticed on a few of your pics that you have a silver shielding on the fuel lines. What did you use? You also had some form of shielding attached to the tunnel near the header? All of my heat protection is on the inside of the car. I need heat control help under the car. Thanks for the continuous help.

One more question. How much line -6AN line did you buy to go to and from the fuel pump? I am giving my car a 347 heart transplant and every piece needs to be a little bigger.

I think that I used 20ft. of -6AN for the fuel line.

http://www.jegs.com/i/Thermo+Tec/893/17075-10/10002/-1 I used this stuff to insulate the lines. I can't remember the exact diameter that I used. It is costly, but not as much as a fire. The reflective stuff in the tunnel area is from a Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptor recall. I used about 4 kits of it.

This is the Ford insulation. It come with two 8.5" X 10" sheets. It will stick to almost anything, & it is easily cut. Price? I don"t know. I got it for free. |
