save me from searching for hours! Ford v8 carb conversions?

I see the kits are all like $5k which I find distasteful, mostly because I am broke.
Has anyone done and documented a home built Ford 302 carb conversion?
I would think a 4 barrel 302 with a t5 would ROCK in a Miata!

I don't do drugs so I ask if this is a drug induced fantasy.
If I could get a cheap Sunbeam or Austin cheaply I'd go that route, but face it, Miatas are ok even though they are newish....

Have you checked the gallery? I see a few carb swaps in there from time to time. Also a lot of DIY ford swaps.

Mikes Ford car, with a lot of DIY. Carb swap = that with a carb on it, and no wires... How hard can that be :-) Just starter, alternator, A/C and ignition, not too tough.

Here is a current build that is going on in the build threads forum:

Good sir I wish to respectfully inform you that hours of searching is a rite of passage that every builder must go through to have a successful build. It's the desert of testing the separates the guys who http://i62.tinypic.com/atru42.jpg from the guys who http://i61.tinypic.com/2vs1e7b.jpg

I can assure you if you skip this vital step it will seal your doom.... http://i57.tinypic.com/2j0mmtk.jpg

So with that you must decide how to proceed here. To click or not to click that is the question....http://i62.tinypic.com/21nf4m0.jpg

I would also like to point out the reasonable alternative.
Pick up a Junkyard 4.8/5.3/6.0 truck motor, or even a van motor. Put it in the miata, have fuel injection and be able to build to 400-500hp.

Just sayin.
If you are at all serious about doing a V8 miata, of any style/brand/induction, read the first link I provided here:

My Budget LS Engine Swap Guide <$1500 - LS1TECH
LSX Swap FAQ and Hall of Fame Threads - LS1TECH
LT1 Swap
Power for Pennies: Build a 400hp Chevy LS Motor for Under $1200

If you have enough time, commitment, and a moderate budget, you can make an good car into easily one of the best sub $50k cars on the road.
So, so, so much info out there to do it on a budget, correctly, there is no excuse for failure except lack of motivation :skid:

Trust me, I am sure to eventually spend far, far too much time stealing other people's ideas.
I was just hoping for a start.
If you haven't noticed, there is a TON of stuff here....
