Possible purchase of the engine

Here's the ad from Kijiji

1992-93 FORD 8 cylinder 302" V8 5.0L completely re-manufactured engine. Comes with a 1 year or 20,000 km warranty on parts internally only.
$1000.00 exchange
Please call or email for further details

Is it worth it, I figured I'd pay a lot more for a re-manufactured engine, or maybe this is the cost to get one re-manufactured, based on the $1000.00 exchange comment at the end.

Got a bit more information on this. Shop owner wants them gone was reason for low price, waiting for call to get more details.

On A side note, found a 7.5 diff from a l994 Ford Ranger, will that work?

NVM on the diff. re-read the Ford sticky post above.

The diff from a Ranger will not work. A Ranger is a solid axle while a Miata has independent rear suspension. There may be some internal parts in common but that's about it. The IRS unit you need is the center section only. It is about 15 inches wide - the Ranger unit is about 70" wide.

If all you want out of the Monster is stock 5.0 power, the engine will probably work well. While I didn't build my Monster, I built my Cobra. One of the mistakes I made with my Cobra was to have a speed shop build the engine for me - I would have been much better off in the long run buying a pre-tested dyno'd crate engine from a well respected supplier. Does the warranty start the day you buy it or the day you first drive it?

Shop owner wants them gone but there is still an exchange needed? That seems kind of weird but maybe they just want to keep their builders working. What is the normal price then?

So are you going to try and find a complete engine then to exchange with them? That might be a good way to get all the accessories, brackets, intake etc you are going to need.

Good news, The engine was from a company that his shop deals with, they were having money troubles and owed his shop a bunch of cash. He took the a few engines as payment. So he just wants to get his money back. So he's selling them at his price. Picking it up possibly this weekend if he will be around the shop, otherwise it'll be the following weekend. He wants to show me the motor to prove it's a good engine, since it's being sold under his shops name.

Nice! It always feels good to find a good buy like that. Congrats!
