Ford Mazda electronics

I have a 5.0 Monster with an ignition problem that I am trying to sort out. I am in the process of studying the Ford ECCIV efi system. Most of what I have read pertains to Mustangs and Broncos. Our cars have something different, we have a marriage of the Mazda electrical system with the Ford system. Does this present anything unique or special about the way that we need to troubleshoot the electrical system? My car was built using Martin's instructions but I was wondering for example, several of the ignition system tests require cranking the engine to check voltages. What is the easiest way to cut off the fuel supply during these tests, or am I over thinking this?-Brad
