Flush mount oil drain bolt- Ford
I'm soon going to be buttoning up my engine. I'm using Martins pan. Does anyone know of a flush mount drain bolt? It would free up about a 1/2" of ground clearance.
Thanks. Brad |
Cut the drain bolt section out of the pan & weld it on the rear of the pan. Use the part that you cut off of the rear to fill the hole at the bottom.

Ya, but Martins new freshly powercoated pan is so nice. Really don't want to hack it up.

Then run it as is. Your exhaust will hit the ground LONG BEFORE the drain plug will.

Im pretty sure the bolt is a 1/2x20 thread. you could use a set screw but run the risk of it backing out or threading it to far in. but it would be "flush"

yes, but I guess you'd still need to weld on a washer to the end of it or it would leak. I'll not worry about it this time around. If it's an issue I want address, I'll do it on the next engine. I'll stick to the book on this one. Thanks all.
