Dimensions for oil pan modification?

Ive got a buddy that can modify my oil pan for me, so I just need to tell him where to cut and how much to take out. The subframe Ill probably be using looks like its done just like the Monster Miata ones.

I found this, which has some really good info, but I always try to find as much info as I can. And some of the modified pans Ive seen look different that what I imagine that one would look like.

Found this. This is what I thought the oil pan had to look like. Very similar to the first one I posted, but the part between the cuts has also been flattened out. Which way would be preferred?

The steering rack is the main issue that the oil pan needs to be modified for. Mike's pictures and details are correct. So only the front section of the pan needs attention that will be right behind the oil pump. I used the Monster Miata oil pan and had to tweak the oil pickup tube a bit to get the pan to fit. So if you do your own pan, be sure to consider the oil pickup tube/screen when modifying it.

Ok thanks. I'm bringing it to a friend who's a welder and he's gonna help me do it. So I'll make sure to put the pickup on and take plenty of measurements before hand since he's a few hours away and I can't exactly being the engine with me.

The stock pickup from and SN95 is the same as a fox, correct?

Be sure that you have the correct pickup tube for the oil pan that you have. An early model pickup will not fit a newer model oil pan. Not even with the biggest hammer that you can find.

I've got the pickup and oilpan that was on the mustang when I pulled the engine.
