A couple of stupid questions...

Good Morning All:

I have a couple of easy ones...

Speedo cable to Vehicle Speed Sensor, how do they connect together. I am using Martin's speedo cable extension and manual is somewhat vague on the subject. I don't know if I am missing something (a little clip maybe) or not. But they don't go together the way they are, see pic. Perhaps someone can post a pic.

And, my bolts from the bell housing to block bolts seem a little short, don't know if I mixed them up or what. Do they look long enough? Seems to me they should be about 1/4 inch longer...

Thanks for the help...

Looks like you are missing the "C" Clip (retaining clip) on the end of your speedometer adapter. Cable should snap right in otherwise.

I've used bolts that short as a temporary measure, I'd suggest buying ones at least 1/4" longer

Here's a VSS with the clip that you can see.

Great thanks Brad, now where am I going to find one of those...

It should have come with the VSS....where did you get it?

I got the trans out of Craigslist and had it rebuilt. The tranny shop I dealt with has one waiting for me...

Strange thing, I though there was something missing from the VSS and ordered a new one. I checked the new one when it arrived and the clip was missing as well so I did not buy it. I figured that I had a complete unit. The clip was missing from a brand new one, someone probably was in the same boat as me and took the clip and returned the sensor, nice guy... go figure...

Hi Everone, I am new to the forum and am getting all my parts together to begin a Ford engine swap this summer. My trani has the Ford VSS in it as well. The fist pic in this post is that Martan's VSS adapter ? or do you modify the stock VSS to accept the manual speedo cable while retaining the electrical signal for the ECM ? What parts do Martan's kit come with for this conversion? Thank you for your assistance, have enjoyed this forum for some time and decided to join.

His kit comes with a speedo cable that is about a foot long that attaches to the mazda cable on one end & the Ford transmission on the other. Be sure not to kink the adapter, & keep it off of the exhaust.
