1999 NB 302 swap wiring?

Has anyone completed an NB 302 swap? I am curious as to the difficulty with wiring. I plan to use Martin's kit, but most 302 swaps I see are with NAs, not NBs.
The wiring diagrams in Martin s manual are NA as well.

Hi,

I have done a ford NB swap..

Best way I have found to do the wiring is to run a new relay bank for all the essential items (Fuel relay, EEC relay, radiator fans, O2 sensors etc ) with some heavy gauge wiring from the battery to feed the relay bank. That way all relays, wires and connections are new and solid.

Happy to help you with wiring if you need any help...

A quick search online will yield the wiring diagrams for the NB, which will be very helpful.

Also Martins wiring works but is more geared for getting the car running quickly as opposed to wiring "best practice". Spend some time here to ensure that the electrical circuits all round are reliable...otherwise you may get gremlins later.

If you are not using EFI, then things are of course much simpler :)

NB update

Well after being away a while, dealing with the pandemic ( I work in healthcare) and considering the LS swap, I am back to ground zero.

I am going to go with the 5.0 HO EFI swap.

Two problems I am having. One, finding a 5.0 motor with the ECU with it. Second, goes back to my concerns.

How difficult was it for you to figure out the correct wiring set up on your NB?

I have started with cutting the engine bay and creating room for the tranny tunnel.

Still can't find an engine and ECU that's not a fortune.

Nice to see another Ford enthusiast. This doc may help. I thought it was extremely well written. I'm not sure what the differences are between NA and NB, but there are surely enough similarities to get you over some of the hurdles. I have 2 302 Miatas, NA and NB, both using Megasquirt, both with wildly different harness solutions and degrees of success. So not much help there. I will say that I was not happy with the factory ECU. There seems to be a growing following for the Holley Terminator X amongst the LS swap crowd.

Good luck, keep us posted. If you're using Facebook, let us know.

Wiring help

Thank you for sharing the document Mike. Very helpful.

Still trying to locate an 89-93 5.0 HO engine with ECU, then plan to get Martin's s kit and get started.

Engine bay modifications are already done

Feel good about the project except for wiring. Not much experience doing auto wiring before.
