Default Vented Hood

Martin at Monster Miata vented my hood for me. I had a local shop strip it and paint the bottom to match the car. I like the vintage/racy look of the bare aluminum.

Didn't know Martin offered this service. Man I would like to have one.

The hood looks great. I have heard that there are some hotrod shops in my area that will louver sheet metal for about $5/louver as long as it is prepped. I picked up a used hood to try this on.

Martin's hood really is sharp looking. I too was unaware that he offered this. Calif to NC freight charges would be high I'll bet for a large alum hood.

He sends them truck freight. It wasn't exorbitant ... I looked for an email but I delete emails too fast. I think the freight was under $200 from California to the Seattle area. Well worth it for the combination of function and looks, IMHO.

Has anyone ever done one wth some of the vents like this?

They're relatively cheap, and I think they would look pretty good. Not quite the same as Martins though.

I cut the holes in my hood for louvers, and ended up just liking them open....

Do a search on eBay for universal hood vents. They're the ones where the pic is a black and white drawing.
