I have some high speed lightness that I have been fighting since I got the car. Replacing the front bumper cover with one that is lower and covers the front wheels helped. I also got rid of the induction headlight cover after going to a vette intake. My next step (I think) is a splitter that extends under the motor and/or trying to fit the factory plastic that goes under the engine compartment (any LSs running it?). The next step would be a vented hood to reduce pressures under it although I'd rather not if I can avoid it. I'm also hesitant to lower the car more b/c the roads I'm on 90% of the time are anything close to smooth/flat. ...including my driveway (gravel/rock).

Anyone been down this road already? What worked and what didn't? I'd like to run the car in some Texas Mile type events but during some test and tune runs it starts getting hairy in 5th gear. :eek3dance:

A front under-tray / splitter has been on my to-do list for a while now. I don't think the stock one would work well with the V8R subframe...and besides, the one I have is cut to pieces from my previous intercooler piping.

Beatrush makes an aluminum under tray that looks like it would work well. I highly doubt it would bolt up but it would be pretty easy to copy the design and come up with a way to attach it to the V8R subframe.

I feel your pain on the vented hood. I wasn't crazy about it either but when I saw how much the hood was bowing at 1/4 mile speeds, I wasn't comfortable taking it to those speeds again until it was fixed. The car still felt stable at 135-140 but the amount of pressure (lift) needed to flex a latched hood ~3/4" in the middle isn't something you want to ignore at those speeds. Since venting the hood the flexing isn't noticeable at speed. As a side benefit, heat soak is much less of a problem and intake temps are more stable while in traffic. Like you, I wasn't crazy about venting the hood, so I opted to blend them in as well as I could :)

I really like that and shouldn't be too hard to adapt. :thumbsup: I'm not seeing bowing in the hood but then again I pretty much have tunnel vision focused on the road above 140.
