V8 Miata for Sale in Tennessee
|
It was for sale in Arkansas for a few months for 6900, I thought about buying it. I talked to the guy in TN the day he put it up, told me the upcharge was because of higher interest in V8 miatas in the Nashville area. Looks like the ad is gone now though so maybe he did well?

Noticed it is back up again…..
Monster Miata V-8 I inquired about it, just because I was curious: Not much detail in the answers... Who built the car? (what kit was used)? It was built in Conway, Arkansas by several shops. I got it from a cycle shop that build shifter cars. It is a pretty clean build. What is the engine size? 5.0 Liter Mustang- It has a mild cam. What transmission is used? T5 What rear differential is used? Stock Is it smog compliant? Not as is. You would have to add a catalytic converter or license in Bedford County. (No inspection) How many miles on the engine? Approx 3000 Any specifics on the engine? Mild cam, Edelbrock carburetor. I have not put it on a dyno so HP is unknown. How long have you owned it? Bought it just after Christmas. It was just purchased for resale. What does it need? Nothing to run and drive. I would go for a new sound system. Body work the flares and change the wheels to something wider |
It's got M seats in it. I'll be surprised if he gets 9400 out of it with a miata diff
|
I can check it out if needed. Might do anyways just for kicks. Need an excuse to drive through Catoosa for some gravel rally action.

I talked to the guy that built it when it was for sale in Arkansas, he traded it to the shop that had it listed. He told me had been to Texas in it a couple times, he thought it had closer to 20k on the build. Motor was an older 5.0 that was freshened up, not full on rebuilt. I don't think its a bad car, but I don't think he will sell it for that.

It has factory strut bar mounts...
Do like that color though. Makes me think of plum crazy, yellow stripes, and super bee graphics. Add a barn door hood scoop like old mopars? Mass confusion :) He's agreed to meet! I'll take the compression tester. Not sure how to tell lsd from regular diff but I'll get pics. Let me know anything in particular I'm still a bit new to these things. |
From my understanding of NA Miatas, if it has cruise control, it has LSD. There is alot of conflicting information on the LSD. I have a 97 with AC, power steering, power mirrors (touring package), but no cruise control. So apparently it doesn't have LSD (even though several on miata.net claim all 94-97 miatas have one). My original window sticker doesn't list an LSD, so I have to assume if the car you're going to look at doesn't have cruise control - then its an open differential.

The only lsd in 95 was Torsen type I. If it's an early 95 you can check for ears between the axle studs.
This open diff (early 95) does not have ears - top circle https://www.v8miata.net/attachment.p...ine=1454548900 info thanks to diff spotters guide on miata.net My idea is to have him do a burnout. That outta do it. Another thing I'll definitely check out is the exhaust because stock diff mount etc is a pain to route through. |
it is a appears to have m seats and paint. if it is an M then it has a torsen

Left with a very good impression of the car. Thunderbird rear end, much more later when I get home.

First, about the guy. He's older and races autocross & track days in his corvette. Son has a NA miata. He really didn't know much about the technical side of things. So this car has tons of mods that weren't mentioned in his ad.
Engine/drivetrain older 5.0 freshened up not full rebuild (per stng_96) Aluminum heads!!! Edlebrock carb MSD distributor, coil, controller box thing - electronic timing control? grey wire runs through firewall but couldn't find what it went to. Custom built aluminum radiator & supports - fits perfectly Coolant overflow tank Alternator relocation bracket? A/C delete pulley 2 electric push fans 'mild cam' per owner, didn't have noticeably lumpy idle Martin's headers 2.75"? exhaust - loud but extremely smooth! Amazing deep sound, no rasp. 2 in 2 out muffler, then smaller straight through mufflers on each pipe. T5, short throw shifter, clutch isn't stiff but doesn't slip Thunderbird rearend Martins trans and diff mount? (assumed, see photos) Depowered steering rack Suspension Red thicker sway bars front and rear Poly sway bar bushings Spherical endlinks! tockico blue shocks Rear strut tower brace (never seen this before) Interior Roll bar (looked nice, not sure what brand) No missing interior pieces (except passenger door step plastic) Heat works Radio works, stock No a/c Big tach Oil psi and water temp A-pillar gauges All the factory gauges work except speedo Leather seats mint condition, no cracks Stock shift boot, console not cut Brakes are good, stock 94 calipers All 4 tires have good tread. Nitto front, Falken rear Exterior Martins body kit stock hood, some supports cut to fit air cleaner unknown wheels New soft top, plastic rear window Wipers need paint (it still has window wash sprayer system hooked up) Car didn't make any strange noises during the drive. I forgot the compression tester :( but it didn't smoke. Pulled very strong no backfires. Wiring looked very nice. Great overall build quality. Paint looks good from 10ft. On the trunk lid you can see where the paint underneath was flaking off and was painted over. Bit of orange peel. He said sometimes when you turn the lights on the big tach stops working. Then it will start working again, eventually. I'm not sure why it's there because the factory tach works fine. |
