selling my ls1 swapped Miata in hopes of getting into w2w racing next year.
ive been a constant lurker here but never really posted much.
anyways onto the car...

96 model, clean title, NO RUST hardly any surface rust on bolts even, car has always been garaged while ive owned it.
its been my track and fun car, therefore it lacks any real amenities.
no heat, no ac, no power steering, no radio or speakers, rides like a highly sprung Miata (although not too bad considering the xida's), no cats (so its can get a bit stinky at times.
that being said it can still be street driven and I drive it to/from work sometimes and when I get a scratch I have driven it to work everyday for a week or so. still very streetable but I wouldn't consider it a daily unless you live in a warm climate and are a hardass.

the good

completely rust free

can still be street driven OR taken to the next level and caged
won scca solo XP regional championship with it last year.
charchri4 can vouch, he came down and autocrossed with us in des moines.

the bad
the hood is ugly after a attempted DIY "hood venting" project
(thanks again to the DIY aero thread)
also props go the the fucktard I entrusted to re-install my hood pins at the last track day. edges of the hood are now bent up and hood is wrinkled looking but still serves its purpose so I haven't replaced it yet.
pass fender is also a little wrinkled looking from a dent removal
speedo is the only non working guage. I have another full cluster
with a digital speedo installed that's a 1 wire hookup that I bought from chpmnsws6, but in 2 years have yet to install it. I will include it.

Yeah the hood is a mess but as you can see from the specs and photos the rest of the car is spot on. The owner is a heck of a nice guy too. It has one of the best exhaust notes of any LS I have ever heard. Damn good price on an LS swap and not much effort if a guy wanted to put it back to street use.

Side note at this price I'm sure it will sell but if you decide to part it out I'll take the diff, control arms and if I could swing it the brakes. And the areo. And the top. And - ugh sell the car already!

Trboboost91 08-12-2014 12:17 PM

Thanks jim!
Yeh it seems as though the hood was destined to die.
Should be a easy fix, just haven't gotten around to it.
I'd hate to part it out, there's gotta be someone out there who can enjoy it.
If no one buys it I'll probably just keep on driving it.

Interesting. OP, do you have a sound clip uploaded to Youtube or anything?

charchri4 08-16-2014 06:47 AM

Man you are in Rochester MN?? Trust me it will be well worth the 3 hour drive to go see this car - just to see the car! It's not a loud harsh exhaust note like mine it's a bit deeper and has more presence to it. It reminds me of a friend of mine that is 6'5" and 300 lbs. He doesn't say much but when it talks with a no nonsense commanding authority that doesn't need to be loud for everyone in the room to know who's the boss!

If you are seriously interested what I would do is ask the seller to meet you here MOWOG Autocross Series - Event #5 24-Aug-2014 pay for his entry fee to make it worth his trip and road test the car the way it's built to be used. If you do that please let me know and I will be there too!

rochesterricer 08-16-2014 01:28 PM

Yep, I'm in Rochester. Although I'm shopping for a different house right now, so I can't really justify purchasing a toy at this moment. I think a sound/vid clip would definitely help sell it though.

Perhaps I will try to make it down there on the 24th, simply because I haven't been to an AutoX in forever. I can't guarantee I can make it, but if I do and the OP is there, maybe I will take some video with my iPhone and see how it turns out. If the video quality isn't horrible I will post it up for him :)

Trboboost91 08-16-2014 05:09 PM

As much as I want to take the time to record a sound clip, even though id have
No idea how to post it. You tube I'm guessing.
Even without a sound clip i feel confident in saying the car is pending sale.

Best of luck with the sale! This V8Roadster looks stunning -- and, obviously TOO good of a deal for someone to pass up who would prefer instant gratification to have this LS1-powered Mazda NOW versus the time to put one together. You just couldn't build this car for that asking price, IMHO.

Keep us posted!

Trboboost91 08-25-2014 12:49 PM

car is sold and was street driven by one tough chick all the way to idaho!
didnt see any where to edit the original post to indicate sold either.
maybe a mod does it?

charchri4 08-25-2014 12:57 PM

I got it for ya. You do it by going advanced when editing your post.

Bummer the car won't around the area anymore. Did she fly in and drive it back then? Also just wondering how you connected with her. Was it through here or some other means?

Congrats on the sale. I think... ;)

Congrats on the sale. I think... ;)

It was her boyfriend that bought it. And she flew in and drove it back for him. Pretty nice of her.
To be honest he emailed me and I listed it in a couple places. Not sure if he saw it here or not.
Also the edit button was not showing on my original post. I tried on a couple different computers too.

Question - bringing this old thread back to life

Howdy! My brother was the gentleman who originally purchased this car. Unfortunately, not long after buying it the car developed some mechanical issues that have left it sitting in the garage ever since. He's now considering selling it, and we are trying to assess the realistic value of the car in its current condition.

Primarily, the wiring has had some failures (the engine bay wiring wasn't water tight), the clutch pedal sinks to the floor after only a little bit of hard driving (it comes back after cooling), and now the motor has significant blowby under wide open throttle. The motor is likely needing a minimum of a mild rebuild to address that.

Given this, what would you folks suggest is a reasonable selling price? :) Thanks in advance!
