Some photos that didn't get attached to my original post.

Very nice looking car! Who did your seats or is that a kit? Any idea what the spring rates are on your ground controls? Why no build thread on your LS build?

SofaKing 04-29-2014 10:07 AM

Thanks!

I did the seats myself with covers from either CabrioWorld or Leatherseats.com. I have used both, and don't remember which car has which. Both worked well.

I am lousy at documenting my builds! I have some photos, but not enough to tell the story. My LS1 is very stock looking motor. It looks like it is straight out of a C5 right down to the intake and headers.

SofaKing 04-29-2014 10:08 AM

I used the spring rates that Flyin' Miata uses for their package. I think they are roughly 450/300. Hopefully someone will correct me if I am wrong. They might not be the most aggressive, but the car rides great.

charchri4 04-29-2014 12:12 PM

No those are great spring rates. I sent the info to a buddy of mine in the market. Great looking car!

So this now has a solid rear end and no long an IRS? Did you narrow the rear to fit the body, as the stock 8.8 axle assembly does not fit under a Miata body.

Can you expand out on what TLC it needs, as you appear to be asking full retail pricing for a car needing work. Can you post some pictures of the body damage and the rust in the rockers? I ask as rust only happens from the inside and eats it's way out like a cancer, so any rust you see may only be the tip of the iceberg. Especially given you location.

No, this is an aluminum 8.8 out of a 2002 Explorer. It is still IRS.

I don't have photos of the rust spots. I will take some photos and post them.

Sorry for the delay in posting pics of the rust spots, but I decided that I should fix them rather than sell the car "as is". So all of the rust is gone! There are still some door dings, but the car is now very solid. All of the rust has been cut out and replaced with new metal. Sorry for the quality of the attached photos, but the weather around here hasn't been conducive to taking outside shots.

Note: the after shot of the passenger rear rocker just shows the patch after it was welded in. It has been smoothed, chip guarded and painted. I will attach that photo when I can get the car outside.

I took the car to the Hot Rod Magazine Power Tour stop at Summit Raceway in Norwalk, Ohio a couple of weeks ago. The guys from TrickFlow saw it and posted photos on the company's Facebook page. There were over 2000 cars there and they only posted photos of 3! Mine was the only one that they posted that wasn't in their booth. I felt pretty flattered!

Is there a way to post a link to their Facebook posting here?

This car is still for sale! I would like to move it before the snow flies!

Price reduced to $13,500. All of the TLC that this car needed when I posted it has been done. The car is looking great!

Can you post your location and more specific info about the car and build or maybe I didn't see a link you your build site ? Thank you

SofaKing 09-07-2014 07:38 AM

The car is west of Cleveland , Ohio. Sorry, I don't have a build thread on the car, but the major components are listed in my first post. The only thing that has changed is that all of the "TLC" has been done. The car looks great and runs very well.

still for sale

is the car still for sale?

anything on the car that would prevent emissions passing?

I am in the Pennsylvania area

SofaKing 11-29-2014 09:39 PM

It is still available.

It passes Ohio emissions easily. I don't know if PA is different. It has dual cats.

charchri4 11-29-2014 09:48 PM

GT420 there is a really good post that covers PA emissions here

SofaKing 11-30-2014 07:11 AM

Looking quickly at the emissions post, It should pass the "sniffer" test, but you would have to add the charcoal canister (which should be pretty easy.) It also doesn't have an EGR, but it is a 92 so that isn't necessary.

SofaKing 11-30-2014 11:05 AM

Sorry, I just posted a reply on the emissions thread that charchri4 referenced! Doh!

Looking at that post, My car should pass the "sniffer" test with no problems. But it doesn't have a charcoal canister. It should be easy to put one back on. It also doesn't have an EGR, but since it is a 92 it shouldn't be necessary.
