99 NB LS6/T56 in SW Florida

1999 Miata with a Boss Frog V8 conversion

The engine was a 5.7 liter all aluminum LS6 from a 2005 Cadillac CTS-V rated at 400 HP and 385 lb-ft of torque. The block was just replaced with another LS6 from a 2002 Z06 Corvette, with the same casting number as the CTS-V - 12561168. The engine was completely rebuilt with a cleanup bore, new pistons and balanced. It only has about 500 break in miles since the rebuild.

The car shows 65,100 miles on the odometer, but the instrument cluster was replaced and the chassis has 109,400 miles on it. There are 13,100 miles on the conversion which was performed in 2010 by the previous owner.

It has Hooker headers and a custom 2 ½ inch exhaust.

Custom cold air intake.

Hi-flow custom aluminum radiator with dual electric fans.

6-speed T56 manual transmission from a 2000 Firebird.

Exedy Spec Stage ll clutch kit

Aluminum driveshaft and upgraded halfshafts

3.73 LSD 8.8 inch differential from a 1997 Mercury Cougar, which allows for retention of the independent rear suspension.

Boss Frog Arm chassis stiffeners

Frame rail reinforcement kit

Hard dog roll bar hoops for real protection, not just style bars

Wilwood brakes

Bilstein coilovers

15 X 8 Advanti Storm wheels weighing 11.1 pounds each

225/45/15 Hankook Ventus R-S3 V2 with a 200 tread wear rating

Also included are four 16 inch Rota wheels with all season tires and a trailer hitch which is not installed.

The bad

No working A/C. It is a factory A/C car and the compressor is mounted on the engine, but there are no hoses or condenser.

The asking price is $25,500.

The car is still available. The following link is to a video of the car running.
Let me know if you have any questions.

Thank you! You are at the opposite end of the country from me which makes things tough. I have a turbo car with lots of suspension/brake upgrades already. I'm debating doing the ls swap on it or buying an already finished and sorted car like yours.

Anything the car needs? Anything you'd consider improving if you were keeping it? I do several track days a year, anything you'd think would need upgrading to be reliable on track? How would you rate the paint, body and interior condition? Does it have cats? Wondering if it could pass smog in Oregon.

Sorry for all the questions!

It needs a new owner. I would get the a/c working if I was keeping it. I don't do track days. The paint is very good with some minor issues. Same for the interior. No cats. No smog test in Florida.

I don't want to throw out an offensive lowball, so I'll just say, if you drop the price and/or want to shoot me a message with the lowest you'd take, I'm only a couple hours away in Tampa. If not, no worries and good luck with the sale.

Does the car use the stock ECU or aftermarket? Tuned? Is there an obd2 port? Curious about that as deq would plug into obd2 for testing. Not do a sniffer test so the lack of cats wouldn't matter so much.

AC

How much would it cost to get working AC?
if I commit to buy car, could you do the AC?

tire warmer 11-02-2021 10:07 PM

The ECU is from an 2005 Cadiliac CTS-V with an OBD2 port. It does have an HP tune.

tire warmer 11-02-2021 10:09 PM

I had one estimate of $2,500 to get the AC working. For the right price for the car I would get it done.
