'91 NA Monster Miata on Craiglsist - $9,500

Found this on Craigslist, says it's been there 14 days. See posting for owner contact information.1991 Monster Miata - $9,500 (Lockport, Illinois) – see posting at https://chicago.craigslist.org/sox/c...395439535.html

Panache V8 conversion Kit (The former "Monster Miata" kit...)

Ford 5.0 H.O Small Block 302ci. 1988 Roller Rocker Engine out of Mustang

Last dyno - 240 RWHP, 280 RW Torque. Stock Mustang was 225 crank HP and ~300ft-lbs, the carb/intake is helping here.

(originally had EFI) Still have EFI harness if you wanted to add aluminum heads and an aftermarket intake. Aluminum heads and something like a Trick Flow intake would likely net 300 hp simply due to breathing mods. If I were keeping the car, I'd likely do a light refresh of the engine and then install the new heads and EFI. As it is, car is plenty quick.

Wieand Eccelerator intake

Holley Performance DBP 650 CFM Carb

Ford Racing Valve covers

March Pulley AC/PS eliminator bracket with pulley powder coated

MSD Ignition with MSD Blaster Coil

Edelbrock Chrome air cleaner

Aero motive Fuel Bypass regulator and fittings

Dodge Viper GTS/ Lemans style Fuel door Custom Made to fit Miata

Steel braided lines for fuel, brakes, and clutch hose

Heavy duty upgraded master cylinder

Custom made thermal coated headers

Cats? Um... well...

Custom Made driveshaft

Custom made half shafts

Custom made front springs (Note, would likely look into coilovers as the rear springs are the old front springs) Car handles well. Could handle better.

Custom shifter relocation bracket

Howe Aluminum Racing Radiator (car runs cool even on 100 degree days (might just get hot inside the car))

Dual Heavy duty cooling fans

Ford Racing T-5 5 Speed Transmission from donor Mustang. I do not believe it is the "World Class" T-5, but just the stock Mustang 5-speed.

Custom Transmission bracket mount/ includes torque mount

Hays Street Strip Clutch

Ford Racing Flywheel

Ford 7.5 IRS Diff. LSD Trac LOC from T-Bird.

Dual Flow Master 40 series mufflers, H pipe Custom install, BORLA TIPS (note, not obnoxiously loud, but not hiding the car has a V8 either)

4 layer header gaskets for sure fit

Moss Motors Front Big Brake Kit w/ Wilwood 2-pc rotors and Wilwood Dynalite calipers. Running a good street pad, but would step up to a auto-cross or track pad for an enthusiastic drive. Tons of pad options from Hawk, Wilwood, etc.

Rear Miata "Sport Package" rotors (11") with relocated stock calipers. Uses stock size. Again, it's a Miata... infinite brake pad options.

16" Rota(?) wheels w/ Hankook RS-2 Tires. 215/45-16

New battery: Summer 2021 750 cc amps

Car has black interior.

Slight creasing/wear in black top.

All Body panels are factory, all have VIN decals. Paint is original, and has many chips and dings.

Paint is peeling in the lower rockers due to poor prior paint job. No rust.

Car is fully operational, ready to drive away.

The car is fully streetable, no problems to report. No overheating issues. Starts during first crank if its been driven regularly, steering is tight, gets a little loose in during full throttle, first and second get very interesting. 1st gear takes throttle control.

But the car just simply takes the power. No bad wheel hop and you can put the power down on dry pavement w/out too many issues, but if you want to go sideways, it's always an option.

In the wet, the car is still driveable, but you just need to a be a bit more gentle with the throttle. I've never tried snow, it'd likely be pretty useless. Like "Viper on a frozen lake" useless. If you want to drift this, it'll drift until you run out of gas or tread, no problem.

Highway mileage is about 20. City is about 14-15 mpg.

0-60 is about 5 flat, with a quarter in low 13's according to my dyno phone app. Never taken it to the strip to be sure.

The car also can be hustled on twisty roads easily, even w/out power steering. It really feels good at speed.
