2001 V8R Build. Almost Complete!
2001 Miata - Sunlight Silver Metallic
Located outside of Chattanooga, TN Approx. 75,000 miles on the chassis. Clean and clear title in-hand. I bought this car in 2011, with the sole intent to build it as a V8R car. I sold a 95 Miata, that I had built with an FMII turbo kit, and Megasquirt so that I could build this one. I drove it as a second/weekend car until it came apart in 2013. Since then, I have gotten married, we have built a house, and had our first child. In the last few months, we have started thinking about moving again, and perhaps adopting all within the next 2 years. We are in the process of putting an offer in on a piece of property, and it would be great to free up the money from this sale to lesson what we would have to finance. That is the only reason I am considering selling. This is a V8R build through and through. Subframe/Frame Rails/Rear Diff Mount All other components on the car were selected from the beginning with the idea of an LS Swap in mind. Chassis: Professionally widened and re-welded firewall and tunnel. Eastwood Ultimate Sound and Heat Spray on Insulation in the tunnel, and the interior of the car. Fat-Cat Ultimate Bilstein Coilovers, custom valved for the V8R build, with 700F/425R spring rates. Flyin Miata V8 front sway bar, with HD boxed front sway bar mounts. Trackspeed Engineering 11.75 Wilwood front brake kit. Rear sport rotors/M-tuned caliper brackets. Hard Dog Single Diagonal Sport Bar. Mazda Hardtop - (I have removed the soft-top, but it was not torn, and is in useable condition. It will be included in sale, and could be easily re-installed with a new rain-rail, I just had no desire to run it/keep it in the car) Wiring: 0411 PCM from 02 Camaro SS (Will need to have VATS removed/be re-flashed) BP Automotive full stand-alone conversion engine harness with sub fuse-panel Wired for AC and dual fans Cooling: Supermiata/949 Racing Aluminum Crossflow Radiator Made by CSF, very nice piece Wheels: 15x9 GenII 6UL’s, in great shape, except for for the finish. I bought them new, but after repeated scrubbings trying to get the dust from HP+’s off, they are down to the primer in a few spots. Engine: L33 (All aluminum 5.3 from 2005 Silverado. 60,xxx miles from local yard.) Short block was re-ringed and all new bearings were installed at Arrow Engine Machine in Chattanooga, TN ARP Rod Bolts installed at same time. LS6 Intake with/ Cable Throttle Body 30# Bosch Injectors PTFE Lined -6 Fuel Lines w/ Corvette Filter/Regulator Walbro 190lph Fuel Pump Holley Fuel Rails Flyin Miata Stainless Shorty Headers New AC Delco Starter 799 Heads, had valves checked, and seals replaced, along with BTR .660 Dual Valve Springs. ARP Head Studs Cometic Head Gaskets BTR 5/16” hardened pushrods, 7.325 length Morel 5290 Link-Bar Hydraulic Roller Lifters EPS (Geoff) spec’d cam… Basically their truck torque 2 cam. 218/226 .595/.598 113 LSA Flyin Miata Steel Oil Pan with baffles/trap door sump (Moroso) Katech LS2 ported oil pump Katech timing chain w/ LS2 style Dampener ATI Damper with ARP Crank Bolt LS3 Accessories from either CTSV or Corvette 140 Amp Alternator Mantic Street Single Clutch/Flywheel Combo Trans: T56 from 2006 GTO (M12, supposedly better synchro’s and slightly better gear ratios depending on your opinion) Was told it only had 50,000 miles Pro 5.0 Shifter Fluid and internals looked good when I drained it and changed the shifter Rear Diff: V8R Rear Subframe Mount Ford 8.8 3.08 with track-loc Re-shimmed track-loc and also had new axle bearings and seals/pinion seal installed. V8R/Driveshaftshop stage 2 axles (750hp, Porsche 930 inner CV’s, billet outer hubs) V8R driveshaft What it will need to run: -Wiring (The stand alone harness and miscellaneous other things for the engine/swap such as alternator, starter, stock gauge inputs, reverse lights, etc…) -Radiator hoses/heater hoses -Nut and bolt the chassis/suspension (This entire car was pulled apart and most wear items were replaced. I paint marked some things, but some things I was going to pull back out, so it needs to be gone over with a torque wrench and put back to factory specs just to be sure.) -Finish putting interior back together after final wiring. -Parcel Shelf Carpet and Carpet behind the seats. (I’ve looked everywhere, and just can’t find these…) -Air Intake (Will include LS6 Corvette factory Snorkel) -Exhaust System from headers back -A/C System if desired. I was going to get the car running and driving before I dove into that. The evaporator and everything in the dash has been cleaned and put back. My full intention was to run A/C. I will also include the factory Miata A/C compressor and condenser. I will update with more current pictures hopefully this weekend. I plan on shampooing the seats and carpet again, and putting them in, as well as putting the hardtop back on. My goal is also to put the fenders and hood back on, and just leave the headlights and front bumper cover off so that the new owner doesn’t have to remove them again in order to finish the cooling system/front intake setup. I know I have over $20,000 invested in this build, but at this point, it just doesn’t make sense for me to keep it with a growing family and with the potential of us moving or building again. Lord willing, I might be able to build/have another swap in the future with 4 doors, something that we as a family could enjoy. Asking $14,000 obo No trades. There is a little room for negotiation, but don’t lowball me. I don’t want to part this car out, it is so close, and someone could show it the love it deserves and have a ridiculously nice V8 Roadster that has been prep’d right and has had a ton of time, money, and love invested. PM me with any questions or offers. I know I am forgetting details, and I will update this ad as I get questions or remember pertinent info. Nice project. Shame to not be able to go the final mile for the Grins per Mile reward but family does take priority.
