I could see this was going to be a big discussion and thought it best to start a new thread just for shirts. Post up your ideas!

Shirts to commemerate Mitty 2015

Maybe something like "V8 Miatas @ The Mitty" arranged w/ a caricature of a V8 Miata on the front & names of the attendants on the back w/ the dates. Names could be listed as screen name or actual name depending on what the car owner wants.

cruizin54 01-23-2015 07:04 AM

The biggest problem I see with the names of the attendees, is that the shirts could not be made ahead of time. I really like the idea of shirts, but think it would be great if we could get them made up ahead of time - then have a dinner where we all wear them.

tbone heller 01-23-2015 07:34 AM

I think that a pocket t-shirt with a large logo on the back & a "Monsters at the Mitty 2015" over the pocket on front would be nice.

Or the same without the pocket on the front.

White in color as you'll bake in the sun in a black T shirt

Old farts like me like a pocket. It makes for a handy place to hold my beer.

I prefer a grey shirt over a black or white one. They are cooler than the black ones, but they stay cleaner looking than the white, especially if you ever have it on when working on your car. Tan works, too.

Interesting how this thread has followed my thoughts on this. At first I thought just what Kevin is saying with a concert style tee shirt. Big logo on the front and the list of tour dates on the back. I had not thought about putting our names on it but that is a great idea. Maybe something fun but way less lame then this on them.

Then I thought more about this group and the cars you guys have. Most of them are far more classy than my wreck and don't scream look at me. So it seems to me a shirt more fitting to that type of guy is like what our autocross club leaders wear. It's a basic bowling style shirt with the guys name and rank embroidered on the front and the club logo on the back.

I bounced both the concert tour style and bowling style ideas off my wearable's guy at work along with what the event is and several photos of your cars. The shot of tbones car with the Cobra beside it may have popped across the screen too... ;) Anyway he did a bowling style shirt that has a checkered flag accent on it for racing team last year he thought would be a good fit for us. He suggested a minimal logo of a brush stroke outline of a Miata that looked like it was racing by with a cross of two pistons below it that made a v and an 8, then put Mitty 2015 centered below that all in a one color embroidery.

I told him I loved the idea and to show me what you got! The only caveat is I asked that logo be obviously a Miata but without enough detail to look like a specific generation of the car. I sent him these for idea generators.

What do you guys think about the concept?

523-LSX-NB 01-23-2015 11:44 AM

I like the bowling shirt (without the mullet, lol); then either the cars name or the owners name & the build date year or month/year depending on what's agreeable.

As to the Miata swipe, as long as it's clear that it's a "V8" Miata. Maybe 4 trumpet mouthed intake stacks in the profile or anything that defines the V8.

We were actually thinking of doing a run of t-shirts as part of the corral. Free of charge for anyone who registers ahead of time. It wouldn't be a golf/bowling/pit crew style shirt for budget reasons, just a cool tee.

Would that satisfy?

charchri4 01-26-2015 07:51 PM

LOL yeah Free would always work Keith!!!

charchri4 01-28-2015 03:05 PM

Keith would it be possible for you guys to print up some extras and make them available for sale? I'm thinking of wife's and other family that will be there and some of us might like to have more than one.

523-LSX-NB 01-28-2015 07:54 PM

From event thread...

[QUOTE Keith]So I can start working on shirts - what are we calling this shindig?

The Miata V8 Summit?
V8 Miatas at the Mitty?
The gathering of the cylinder-enhanced Miatas?

I prefer not to use the term "Monster" because that's a company name, as catchy as it is.[QUOTE]

I like V8 Miatas @ The Mitty. Also, appropriate to note the sponsor; maybe something like "sponsored by Flying Miata," noted somewhere on the shirt. We would also want to buy extras for attending family.

cruizin54 01-28-2015 10:21 PM

I agree - I think the term Monster Miata specifically describes a Ford 5.0 Miata. V8 Miata encompasses a V8 from any manufacturer.

AndyP 02-04-2015 01:01 PM

I like V8 Miatas at the Mitty as well. At least 2 shirts for me and one for the wife. Personally..... I don't mind paying for the shirts....glad to. So looking forward to this.

AndyP 02-04-2015 01:02 PM

ps....... Flyin Miata HAS to be on the shirts!!!!!

WolfGT 02-04-2015 01:15 PM

I think the shirt is a no brainier. It should say "the Mitty, no fun without WolfGT".

:-)

Of course FM has more than earned that right as they have gone way above and beyond what I ever dreamed of for this thing. I was shocked when Keith offered shirts and there is no question everyone will come away from this very pro Flyin Miata. And some of us already are...

My concern is if I had a Monster or DIY build a Flyin Miata shirt would certainly represent the event but really not my car very well. Maybe as an event shirt it's not a problem but I think we need to be sensitive to branding and logos with all the non FM builds coming too. It's really too bad Monster, V8R and Internet Brands didn't care to be a part of this. Or maybe that would just complicate it more...

+1!!!! Should it be "The Mitty" or just "Mitty"?

I don't have any problem w/ "sponsored by FM" or something "FM" to be printed on the shirts that they are offering. Even though we have "other" builds, we are not the event sponsor.

If we are going to have our own shirts, as well, then we could differentiate or simply not even mention a mfr. We had discussed something like the builder or car name & yr of build on the front w/ "V8 Miata's @ The Mitty on the back." Again, that's if we are still considering a shirt option in addition to the FM provided shirts.

charchri4 02-05-2015 08:38 AM

I pretty much dropped it when Keith said he would do shirts for us but if guys want another shirt that is not a tee we can sure do them. This is the shirt my guy suggested
http://i58.tinypic.com/v8n602.jpg

It would depend on how many we run but they would probably run about 20 bucks or so with the art work and embroidery.

Keith 02-05-2015 01:10 PM

If we supply shirts, they'll have our name on them somewhere :) And it's "The Mitty".

$20 for an embroidered knit shirt like that is a pretty good deal.

charchri4 02-05-2015 02:13 PM

Retail on that shirt is 25 but cost is 13. Art work is 20ish (unless one you guys can do it), embroidery set up is usually about 25 and shipping 20.

The per shirt cost to embroider I can't really figure until we have a logo and know how many shirts. For this example I used 8,000 stitches ($5) on 30 shirts to come up the $20 per shirt guess.

Oh, I didn't think about that...duh . One type of shirt "the Kieth shirt," works for us.

norotors 03-24-2015 07:42 PM

How about "Real Miatas Have 8 Spark Plugs and 16 pushrods" somewhere on the shirt?

I used to have one that said "Real Motorcycles have 4 Spark Plugs and 5 Digit Red-Lines". Thought it was cute. Harley guys didn't think so.

V8droptop 04-05-2015 12:08 PM

I like the above. On that note, I wonder if anyone's tried a Hemi in a miata. Oh, 16 spark plugs of joy.

Maybe we can do a V8Miata run of T-shirts for the hotrod power tour. We clearly need to get in on that.
