If you have time you could run the tail of the dragon... I'm going home that way Sunday morning bright and early if you want to group up. From Knoxville I'm going straight north to Lexington KY.

 

Well it's going to take me two days to get there and two days to get back to Toronto Ontario , based on driving 8 hr days and trying to avoid hitting Deer . It about a 16 hr drive , so will grab a Holiday Inn Express on the way ...😁

No problem. You could always stop by for a beer as you will be passing right by by house if you take that route. Also a good place to do any repairs or adjustments before you get to the track if needed.

 

LOL actually I'm headed to Shannons place over by cumming for happy hour but I could pick you up on the way by!

 

Ok just checked 7 different forcast......all different.....😳😳
They have no clue what the weather is going to be ...lol
I guess we will just have to buy a window and look outside..!

My forecast: it will rain hard at some point, probably with some wind. It'll be humid. We'll get some sunshine. This is what it's like every year

UPDATE ON THE EVENT!

I was informed this morning that our track time has been changed from noon on Friday to 6 pm. We'll get our own run group while the Coker Tire tour is on track.

Also, we've been invited to the Coker Tire BBQ on Friday night. So there's your evening figured out.

I will give more solid information as I get it.

 

Good report Keith, a bit of everything...lol .....it changes every 5 hrs, I check 7 different weather reports and not all the same , I don't think they know..
I thought I had a drive from Toronto Canada ,....but your coming from Colorado ...drive safe 😎

Last year on the way home, we had tornados, winds high enough to topple big rigs and snow.

Long drive, I pull out in a few hours.

 

21 hr drive or more for you , trailer, and passengers .....you should get distance award.....lol , Keith if you have any Large ...Flyin Miata Tee shirts please bring one for me ....will pay you at track ..😁

 

More like 24 hours without fuel stops and assuming no problems with construction.

I'll have shirts for everyone.

Yup, We're checking into that hotel that same day. We've got a few trailers and stuff to park in the infield Thursday at 5 or so when they open the gates for us common folk, but we will be there at some point. I think Grassroots Motorsports are there as well. Should be an interesting parking lot, if nothing else!

 

Yep, staying at the Hampton as well.

Just rolled out, see you guys there. About 20hrs to go, expect to be in late Thursday. Pretty excited, brought the go pro and camera for some shots.

Also, have some tools, impacts, and a battery jumper, If anyone runs into the need. Didn't grab a jack though.

 

LOL, I too probably have more handtools packed than I will clothes! Have 1/2" torque wrench, metric allen heads, multi-meter, small GM fuses and other standard stuff crammed into my tool bag that resides in the trunk of this project car. Oh yeah, full set of 11"x17" 1994 Mazda wiring schematics are still in there as well! Not sure why they're a security blanket to me, but after wiring diet they too live in the trunk...

Travel safe. Should be fun.

 

There is a really good BBQ place on the TN side of the Tail. Can't remember the name of the place, but I remember sitting next to a Ducati 996 used as a decoration. Also has a really cool big carved wood dragon to meet you on the way in.

Also stop at the motel on the NC end of the dragon and check out the tree of shame. The motel is at the junction of the tail and Moonshiner 28, another awesome mountain road.

 

I think you mean the BBQ place on the NC side. Next to the store at the gap? It's called Notorious PIG BBQ.

 

As much as I don't like driving a dirty mutt I didn't wash my car figuring the minute I did it would start raining but the weather forecast isn't getting any better!

Well I was working on the car till 9:30 last night..... I think the punch list is done! We are leaving about 10 this morning DRIVING the car... should be in commerce 4 or 5 taking our time!!!
