I am 48 years old, my name is Dean known as Dean0 and just starting my first NA/Ford conversion, I grew up in a machine shop and my fathers hobby is experi"mental" aircraft. Currently I build movie theaters across Canada and P1 race boats,( Vector Powerboats) for a 2nd job when theater building is slow.

I was looking to find something I could road race besides my M3 and my buddy just happened to say why don't I buy his Miata and put one of my many V8's in it.. Hence the project was born.

Always been a fan of small cars big motors, owned a 75 - 327 Corolla, 63- 289HP Falcon, 79- 460 fox mustang and my current E46 LSB M3. Also working on a 88- MR2 supercharged as my instant green drag car, four banger should be around 300HP when finished.

What a super cool thread!

I'm about to turn 31, but since I'm still 30, had to vote for the 21 to 30 age. Can't get over the multi spread age groups! i guess a v8 miata appeals to all ages

I've been working in I.T. for over 10 years. For the last 4, I've been mostly working with servers and visualization.

I've loved cars all my life, but my problem, however is that i have too many hobbies! I'm still overhauling an old house we bought 6 years ago, I built a 60x40 ice rink every winter in my yard, I've been brewing beer AG since i was in my early 20s, I love producing videos, hosting parties, I play the piano and various other instruments, I love cooking...

No kids yet however!

I am Chase, and I am currently 24 and just got out of the Marine Corps. didn't have the funds to build my own V8, so I bought one that looks completely stock with a V8. going to swap everything from my 94 into it(my 94 was all show and no go) so I can have a all show and all go Miata. I do plan on building a V8 NB one day myself. but of course thatll be down the line as I need to get a damn good job to do so, if I can ever manage to find a good job that is. haha.

My name is Denis at 52 yrs, been into hot rodding since high school. First hot rod, '73 Mustang Mach 1, 351 Cleveland, that thing liked to fry tires, zero traction! Five years ago I built a Factory Five Roadster, great car, too flashy and too much attention. So I'm finishing off my Miata and preliminary results are excellent! Should be able to fly under the radar for the most part...

Been working for a provincial railway for the last 35 years, (yup right out of high school).

Well then here you go... First pic is the Roadster that I built, 347, T5z, 8.8 3 Link rear end with 315's on the back. Second pic a little Cobra BBQ at my place, that was a little loud, but the neighbors loved it, hahaha...

And the link below is just me out having fun... you'll want to turn the sound up!

Cool Love the Daytona Coup

I have a 427 Clevlor project engine I would love to install in a FF Daytona, Think the big Cleveland Iron heads might be too much squeeze in a Miata and that's my next choice. As much as I like Cobra's I think the Coup is more Unique to fit my tastes. Very cool BBQ crowd.

We had a couple of Daytonas at the BBQ, the blue one has twin turbos and is just a monster... they are very warm inside, AC is a must!

37 years old. Retired ASE master tech and master machinist. I now teach AutoTech at both the high school and college levels.

Started my miata v8 build a few months ago. Going a slightly different route than most with my ls4. It had its pros and cons, but so far coming along nicely. If you're not familiar with the ls4, that's a fwd platform 5.3 aluminum engine.

Hmmm, surprised I hadn't seen this thread before, I can actually contribute meaningful information to the subject of this thread!

My name is Travis, as of today I am a 28 year old Mechanical Engineer who is 7 weeks from having his MBA, and 5.5 months from having his first child. I have a list of cars that I have had over the past, but nothing like most of you. I'd say I started my v8 miata build about 20 years ago when my dad first told me there was some crazy nut in one of his car magazines putting mustang motors into miatas (We had a 90 NA at the time), Always looked and learned since then.

Well now I am really retired, but manage to bring another Miata with us. Will start al over again but this time I will be going the V6 route (Honda, Ford, or Chevy LFX) I will also be making adapters for mating the J32 to the Miata transmission with a machinist friend here who make them for Subaru to VW.
I already miss my nice lift, but intend to get a shorter one installed in a month or so.......stay tunes

34 yrs old. Claims Adjuster. Been doing it for a while now. Was an auto bodytech for about 10 yrs...

Have had mostly experience building imports - stuck with dsm's for a while.Built my last one into the 10s. Decided I'm done with drag racing, breakingtransmissions, transfer cases and the like. Wanted something fun, lightweightand convertible! v8 Miata has always been a dream of mine ever since I saw themonster Miata in a car magazine back in I believe 97 or so. I think it was themagazine "sport compact car". Been a gearhead all my life. My dad wasa vw mechanic and I helped him work on bugs and his vw rabbits when I wasgrowing up. Currently have all the parts for a ford v8 swap, just looking for agood project car / roller.

Hey all. I'm Elijah and I'm 19. I currently work at a tire shop and go to school full time as well. Currently trying to pursue my real passion of auto detailing. Those 3 things take up a lot of time, so my swap will be slow but it'll happen eventually. I havent been on this site in a long time and found this thread when I got on today. FINALLY got a daily so I can start tearing my '99 apart Current mods are 15x9 Advanti Storm s1 wheels w/ 225/45/15 hankook ventus rs3s. Suspension setup is 700/400 spring rate Xida clubsports with Racing Beat front sway and MSM 14mm rear sway. Ive got the supporting stuff out of the way so I can finally drop a 302 in the already incredibly fun car!

Cool stuff Ozzy! How far into detailing do you go? Just wash & waxing or do paint corrections as well? Also do you have a build thread? I always like seeing more 5.0 builds since Ill be starting mine soon.

This is PJ, as my handle could probably tell you. In the midst of an LS1 swap right, and I've got a build thread going on it.

Age 41, I've been an IT guy by trade my whole life, lucky to fall into the Information Security side working for a large bank. It doesn't come close to scratching the itch I get to work on cars and make them better, faster, etc. Got away from autoxing and tracking FWD VWs, and now own two very nice RWD cars, the Miata and a 98 M3.

I'm very happy we have a forum like this, that has alot of experienced, smart and mature adults to share info with. The maturity doesn't come with alot of the other forums.. lol.

I'm also happy to see guys are still at it into their 50s and 60s... gives me hope I can continue this hobby well into the future.

I'm Adam. I'm 23 and a Test & Development Engineer at a company that is half motorsports and half engineering services for military, OEM, etc. I'm migrating towards the autonomy side of our company to be the Test Engineer for our autonomous, robotic, and electric platforms.

I'm partially done with my LS1+T56 swap into my 1999. As I work on the swap, it's migrating toward more of a track only build. I keep scoring cheap parts from work, like a triple disc QuarterMaster 5.5" clutch that's off one of the Cadillac racecars. Probably won't be too street friendly!

Brian here. 29 yrs old and bouncing through life like a pinball. I'm in purchasing for a small military electronics contractor but I have problems sitting still so I also drive a tow truck part time (filthy but very interesting work) AND I also do hardscape construction (patios/walkways/walls) and auto repairs on the side with a buddy who seems like he never stops either.

I've had 13 cars, trucks and bikes in the last 10 years but I have kid # 1 on the way so I struck a deal with the wife to shrink the fleet down and stop riding bikes. In trade, the v8 Miata dream was green lighted and I've jumped in head first.

Hi I'm Tony, I'm 63, and I accumulate vehicles. I've retired from two careers (sales, and business management/coaching nationally) and currently consult part time. The rest of my time is spent playing with my rental properties and a couple of lake properties, traveling,...and playing with my accumulation of various Ford or Ford-related vehicles.

I built my 95 Miata 5.0 just to have fun with, not race. It's a lot of fun at the car shows, is a very clean build, and I've put almost 20k miles on it in the last 7 years. Hmm, this weekend is the 7th anniversary of its first start.

The other Fords are 1924 Model T Roadster pickup, 1928 Model A that was given to my Dad in 1976, and a couple of 1949 8N Ford tractors, one which has been in the family since new. Oh and I almost forgot the one that started it all--my first convertible, my old ready-to-be-restored-to-mint-condition Model T go kart (like the Shriners used to drive in parades) that I got for a birthday in the early 60's, and as a little kid put a million miles on going up and down the dirt farm roads.

My workhorse DD is a Jeep Grand Cherokee, and just to round things out a bit, the wife drives a... Prius.
