Default Good price for used Miata?

Hi guys, just curious to know what most of you would consider to be a good price for a miata.

I'm thinking about starting my own project, but in my area (far east canada), the cars have a bit of a premium value. For example, a lot of early 90's cars listed for > $5k.

Obviously don't care about mileage, but what's a good price for an early 90's car with great paint and interior?

There are a couple around here (south Carolina) for $2000-$5000. I got mine for $800. But its a piece of crap.

I've seen several threads where people who live in the great salty northeast have traveled to the south or west to get a good rust free car. If you're up to that, you might do a Craigslist search in the areas you would visit, and get a good idea of the local prices.

If I were in your position, I would make arrangements to fly in and drive back.

TORCHMEDIA, my advise to you is to shop around for a clean body from a rust free area. I bought mine already converted but in need of body work, and since I'm not talented at it, I regretted it, although the car runs nice. Also IMHO, I think that the NB makes for a better looking and stronger/stiffer body. Second time around conversions are always easier based on experience and meeting other people to exchange ideas.

The perfect donor Miata at a good price would be a clean car with high mileage, and there's plenty around $2,000.00; patience is the key word......

My 2 cents!

YES start with a clean car! I sure wish I would have. Where are you located? I have bought one way plane and bus tickets several times but for the Miata I did not. BIG MISTAKE!

There are several guys on the forum in large southern cities I'm sure for a modist fee you could get them to look over a car before you buy a plane ticket. Craigs list is your friend!

Best for what? You may as well be asking what's the best color.
