Default V8 Roadsters driveline kit

How many splines (teeth) does the output shaft/ slip yoke have on a V8R Getrag driveshaft?

I got a good buy on a new T56 Magnum and have found out it won't work without changing the tail housing and output shaft. Just want to make sure I get the right work done. I ordered my driveline kit but it has not arrived yet.

Thanks in advance,

Jeff

I got the driveshaft today and I think I have the transmission end figured out. But now, the flange on the differential end of the driveshaft is about and inch bigger in diameter than the flange on my 3:73 Getrag diff and the holes are spaced differently too.

Has anyone else run into this? Does the pinion flange need to be changed?

I know V8R has changed the driveshaft to diff connection on their kit at least once. What shape is yours? Mine is a round end on the driveshaft connected to a triangle on the Getrag. I actually had mine installed incorrectly using the stock Getrag rubber spacer. Turns out, the spacer was not needed. Only used 3 holes on the driveshaft connector.

The one on the diff is round, about 4 inches in diameter and has a very small lip that protrudes from its face at the edge. There are several holes some threaded and some not. I will post a photo when I get home.

The one on the driveshaft is about 5 inches in diameter. See pics in previous post.

I'm not following the question here. Does the drive shaft bolt up OK to the diff?

Sorry if I do not make myself clear. That is the whole problem. The holes do not line up. I put an email in to V8 Roadsters asking the question.

My Getrag has an entirely different snout. Mine looks like a triangle.

That is it. Either I need to find that 3 finger flange or another diff that has that flange. I got an email back from Shandelle at V8 Roadsters today.

assuming they are interchangeable then it would be as simple as finding another pinion flange and then swapping them out by removing that center nut with an impact gun.

I have an extra carrier with the triangle flange in the garage (internals exploded on me). If you were closer, it would be easy to test. Question is, what does the carrier look like on yours? Are the mounting tabs the same as mine in the picture? I remember looking at a rear end with a flange like yours and it would not mount up to the V8R kit. You need a certain year range from a CTS for it to work.

I will check it when I get home tomorrow. I am away for the weekend. If it looks compatible would you consider selling it to me?

You'll need a magnum specific yoke - the V8R one wont fit. I had to shorten my kit shaft by 2.75", since the Magnum is longer then a T56. Other then that, it all worked out. Your length will vary depending on engine placement (front, rear)
