which are you using in your build? I'm leaning towards lizard skin but dynamat seems to be a little cheaper and easier to install. I ultimately want my car to drive as comfortably as possible. If I do lizard skin I'm thinking spraying the heat formula on both inside and outside of firewall and transmission tunnel.

I prefer lizard skin. It gives you a nice seamless application with a lot less work. Prep is the same.

For my Cobra, I didn't want to spray it, because overspray can be a real mess. I went out every evening after work for 3-4 days and brushed on a heavy coat. I used disposable foam brushes, so there was no clean up. The car definitely had a more solid feel to it, and no heat got transferred through the firewall or floor panels.

It's a hard ceramic coating. I wouldn't put it on the exterior surfaces. It will crack, and allow moisture in and trap it, which will lead to rust.

At the time - around 2004 - they only had the heat formula.

I would like to believe mixing house paint with microspheres works but... if you seen the lizard skin demo where they paint half a frying pan and heat it up? I doubt latex house paint can handle the heat in that demo

I did some checking on youtube video's about lizardskin and there were quite a few that mentioned utilizing it on the exterior surfaces.

I've decided to do both, lizard skin ceramic with frost king on top, and frost king in trans tunnel and firewall, and exhaust wrap under driver compartment. Wish me luck y'all.

In 2011 during my turbo build I did the tunnel of my 10AE in homemade lizard skin using microspheres and rustoleum 'professional' enamel paint. It's held up very well with just some cracking where the downpipe is closest (where the factory cat would have been) to the tunnel. I think if I would have used a little self adhesive radiant heat shield in that area it would have stayed 100% intact.

I can't speak for my car too much as I haven't driven it much yet but what little I did the heat formula definitely worked well. We also did my buddies mustang and he raves about it so I have to say it works pretty well
