Default Track and strip with FM Miata

Hey Guys,

I've had "Bert" ( Formerly Gator Bait's car ) for almost a year and all I can say is this thing is freaking fast !!!!

This summer I took it to Blackhawk Farms Raceway for a high speed autocross when it had RS3's on 8" wheels. I was able to beat 1 of the 3 late model Z06's and would have beat 2 if I had put on the 9" wheels with the Rival S BFG's it currently has.

BTW 1:23.5 from a standing start with top speed on the straight of 131+

I left 1-2 sec out there driving wise as I haven't been on the track for almost 10 years and the last time was in a 110whp Scirocco and probably another 1-2 sec due to the crappy RS3's and 8" wheels.

Stiffer suspension could have helped too but I don't want to sacrifice the comfort on the street ( Car has PS, PW, AC etc. )

Last month I finaly took it to the strip.

Evening runs with air in the mid 60's ( good for power, bad for traction ) with a headwind.

1st run, wheelspin bad in 1st and 2nd = 13.3
2nd run, soft out of the hole but shifted hard into 2nd and spun bad in 2nd = 12.3 with 1.9 60'
3rd run, 2nd gear start with a (yawn) 2.12 60' , ran 11.87@126.49
WooHoo in the 11's !!!!
4th run, back to 1st gear start, still spun in 1st and 2nd but not as bad for a 12.1

Decided that was enough for the day.

Conclusion :
Dragstrips suck for traction ( I can get almost full throttle in 1st on the street if it is 70 degrees plus and I have been driving for a while to get a little heat in the tires).

People of all types like the car. Import guys love it, road racers love it, Drag racers think its cool. One guy at the strip ( with a smile on his face) called me a sick individual.

And finally, this thing is Freaking Fast !!!!!!!!

Cheers,

Dr. Dave

Nice! My numbers were about the same at the strip and same problem with hooking up. Glad to see Bert is getting his exercise!!!
