Default SOLD - 1996 LS2 Miata - Full Meal Deal - SOLD

Car is sold. Thanks for all the interest.

EDIT - Price Reduced to $23,000. With over 27K just in parts, this is a steal.

Full meal deal = Deceptive sleeper Miata (stock looking) with almost everything you can get from Flying Miata and V8R with AIR CONDITIONING!

This is for a professionally build pure motorsport 1996 Mazda Miata with an LS2 swap. Fully inspected for the road, and well balanced and ready for the track. Maybe 500 miles since build was complete.

My wife has decided she wants a pool, so I am selling to benefit my family.

I purchased this car "running", but not complete. I have taken it apart to correct the issues and now have a fantastic car. The car is fully insulated inside with Dynomat for sound and heat dissipation. I will miss it for sure.

The LS2 Miata is a beast. It was set up to handle horsepower and perform on the track. Car was put together by CMS Performance in Houston, TX and tuned by 2 Brothers Racing in Webster, TX. As it sits, car has 402HP to the wheels.

- LS2 Engine and T56 6 Speed Transmission from a 2006 Pontiac GTO. Rear end is a 3.42 Getrag out of a Cadillac CTS. Engine was taken apart by a local machine shop and inspected.

The LS2 heads were 5 axis CNC ported and chamber volumes measures and set. Porting included intake runners, exhaust runners, and combustion chambers. Heads were reassembled with new Brian Tooley racing .660 platinums with ti retainers.

The engine got a tear down inspection and a new cam, seals, timing chain, lifters, and pushrods were installed. Also installed was a Melling high volume oil pump and LS7 style intake. Take out had about 70k miles on it, but it is basically new now.

A Monster stage 3 clutch and new clutch release bearing with remote bleeder valve connect the motor to the tranny.

- Performance parts from Flying Miata include: Track Speed brake ducts, Wilwood Big brake kit with proportioning kit, Thermal LSx headers, V8 cooling kit with cross-flow radiator, Moroso aluminum oil pan with remote filter, V8R fuel kit, V8R subframe kit, V8R STAGE 3 driveline kit, V-Maxx Extreme Trackpack suspension, Frog Arms, Frame rail stiffners, NRG quick release steering wheel, and LSx CAI brace.

- The car has a factory hardtop and a Harddog double diagonal roll bar that is SCCA approved. The soft top is also brand new and has a larger glass window.

- Car is currently wrapped in camo vinyl on top and sides. I have received many complements on the look.

- I have installed an oil cooler and custom gauges to include oil temp and air/fuel ratio. The full gauge cluster is composed of custom installed gauges from Glow Shift.

- Sits on new TR Motorsports C3M 15x9 wheels and Hankook 225/45/15 tires. Fenders have been professionally rolled. Tires maybe have 500 miles on them.

- Custom AC lines ran that cools the car perfectly here in Houston. I can daily drive with windows up and it feels fantastic.

- Many other small odds and ends that make this car so unique. I can go into further detail with anyone interested enough to call.

- To do: I have 2 flying Miata front and rear sway bars that have not been installed. Custom mounts need to be made for the front to clear drive pulleys. No radio.

I do drive it to work on occasion and around town (fully inspected). Temps remain solid at 182 with ac off and 200 with it on. The exhaust was built with removable caps for dumps that exit right under the doors. Sounds really good when ran through the Spin Tech mufflers, and extremely aggressive and loud when dumped. I even kept one of the tips turned down under the bumper so it looks like a single exhaust (stock Miata) when viewed from the back.

I have had it on the track once, and to the Texas Mile once. In the mile I attained a top speed of 176.6! I am in the military and don't have a lot of time to take my toys out like I would want, so I am convinced selling them and investing in a pool is best for my family.

I take my cars seriously and care about how they look, drive, and perform. I have another V8 Miata with a 302 and full race cage that I will be selling separately (it is also fully inspected for the road).

I have most of the receipts for the build, which was about 36K-37K. The car has no issues. I'm asking 27,500.

I have posted basic pictures, but can deliver more to any interested parties.

Nice build. FYI, if you don't get any bites on here, I bet you can get over $30k for this if you cough up the 50 bucks to list it on the Flyin Miata classifieds.

So I did some calculations, and I am willing to sell the car just for the cost of parts alone. That means all the labor, misc items like belts, hoses, fluids, bulbs, wiring, interior pieces, and other cosmetics for free! Also, does not include cost of days of custom dyno tuning, new GM painless wiring harness, vinyl wrap, and other little stuff that we all know adds up.

Car runs great and currently has about 600 miles since the build. She really loves the cold weather right now. Heat is not connected, but can be done if you take the time to route some hoses from water pump to heater core which is installed. I never did it because it is never that cold here (AC was more important) and wanted a cleaner engine bay.

(I have receipts for most of the below)
1996 Miata non-salvage title $3,000.00
LS2 Engine and T56 Transmission- rebuilt $6,000.00

You mentioned investing in a pool….

Ours was a money pit! After replacing the liner 2 times, removing the existing concrete deck and pouring a new one, replacing the sand filter and pump and having to dig down and find a leak in one of the underground pipes, I had had enough.

We buried it 4 years ago and instead invested in a detached 24X24 garage shop. I couldn't be happier. We bought our house with an existing unground pool. We thought it was going to be the best thing for our family. Kids were young and enjoyed it initially. Lots of pool parties. But then as they got older, they all went to their friend's house and preferred to swim in their pool (ours didn't have steps). Also, I always seemed to have gotten stuck with cleaning it and I swear - every year the price of chlorine kept going up and God help you if you have an algae problem (common here in the south with the high summer temps)

A few other things you need to be aware of…

You'll need to invest in a fence and your homeowner's insurance coverage will need to be increased. If you're in an area where you don't use the pool during the fall and winter months, you'll either need to drain it (concrete) or cover it (vinyl). Ours required covering it. The cover would last maybe 3-4 years before you would have to buy another one and you will be required to constantly pump off the rainwater that sits on it during the winter months, not to mention having to get the leaves out of it. An expect to take a 1/2 day to clean that nasty cover when you pull it off to open the pool.

Here in the deep south we opened our pool in April and usually in May it was warm enough to swim in. By September the water gets too cold to get in so it would get buttoned up by late September before the leaves would start to fall in October. So, we only got maybe 4 good months in a given year to use it.

From my perspective a pool is a bad investment. Not trying to discourage you but wanting to give you a real world homeowner's view. The ONLY time I would have a pool again is if I hired someone full time to take care of it. It is alot of work.

Best bet would be to convince your wife you need another garage with a lift in it!

YMMV..

LOL! I feel you. My last 2 houses had pools and I know the deal. My wife and kids are sun bunnies, so I promised them one at our new house when we left old house. I've had a new house I designed, a brand new car, but never got to design and build a pool. I'm gonna do it right to try and keep kids here in the summer. Costs of these things are STUPID! Right now looking around 80K.

Already have the garage with a lift, so.....

OMG! $80K for a pool? Geez, it better be a vanishing edge pool for that kind of coin! Good looking lift.

I only have 9 foot ceilings so I went with a smaller lift…

Really like the itemized list, and I hope that is enough to persuade a buyer to step up for a great deal on what looks like a first-class V8Roadster. The wrap is not my thing, but I'm sure it peels right off if someone is looking for a sleeper effect with lots of go-fast goodies. GLWS. It will make somebody a happy owner!

Here we go - price lowered to $23,000. This is the lowest it will go. Would like to have it sold before the end of March.

Hi there! What issues did the car have when you bought it? Seems CMS Performance aren't the sharpest tools in the box. Do you have any pics of the body and manifold clearance? Roughly how many miles does the rebuilt engine have? Does the exhaust have any cats?

EDIT: Are those cats next to the diff?

I'm a pool contractor here in Florida. $80k seems a bit strong for what I'm seeing.

Looking at 70k right now. That's a 10 ton grotto with slide. Doesn't show travertine coping, pebble fina plaster, and glass bead spa. 102 perimeter with 3 LED lights and lots of decking.

I'm feeling better about it. If you need a reality check during the process just ask. David
